Garden Fencing in Buckinghamshire
New garden fences across Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns, from a family-run team based in Hazlemere.
Fence Installer Across Buckinghamshire
FirstScapes is a family-run landscaping company. We put up new fencing across Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns, from a single run of fence panels to a new garden fence all the way round.
A fence is only as strong as its posts. We set each one deep in concrete, and concrete posts with gravel boards keep the timber off wet ground, so high-quality fencing stays straight and lasts for years.
Choose traditional fencing, solid fencing for privacy, or composite fencing that never needs painting. We will help you pick the new fence that suits your garden, your neighbours and your budget.
Covering ten towns across south Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns, and the villages between them.

Fencing Questions from Buckinghamshire
Which towns do you cover for fencing?
We put up fencing in High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Amersham, Marlow, Chesham, Hazlemere, Great Missenden, Gerrards Cross, Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles, and the villages in between. Pick your town below for local advice.
How long does it take to put up a new fence in Buckinghamshire?
It depends on the length of the fence, the type of panel and whether an old fence has to come down first. Once we have measured up, your quote includes a timescale, so you know how long we will be on site before we start.
Do I need planning permission for a new fence?
Usually not. A fence up to 2 metres high is normally allowed, or up to 1 metre where it runs beside a road. The rules are tighter for listed buildings and in some conservation areas. We check this before we start.
Should I choose traditional, solid or composite fencing?
Traditional closeboard fencing is strong, private and good value. Solid slatted panels give a cleaner, more modern look. Composite fencing costs more at the start but never needs treating. Compare the fence types above.
Can you fit a gate in a new fence?
Yes. We build and hang timber gates to match the fence, so the boundary looks like one piece and the gate closes cleanly.
How much does a new fence cost in Buckinghamshire?
It depends on the length, the height and the type of fence. We need to see the garden before we can give you a price, so we offer a free, no-obligation quote. Call 01494 812249 or use the form at the top of the page.
How high can a garden fence be without planning permission?
Two metres from ground level in most places. Next to a highway used by vehicles, or the footpath of such a highway, the limit is one metre, which is the rule that usually applies at the front of the house and beside a driveway. You need permission at any height if the house is a listed building, if the fence forms a boundary with a neighbouring listed building, or if an Article 4 direction or planning condition removes the right. See the Planning Portal rules on fences, gates and garden walls.
Planning guidance correct as of 28 September 2026. Rules change, so check with Buckinghamshire Council before you commit to anything.
